Newsletter 02 | We’re Celebrating Mothers & Householders this Season
Give The Hearth Matters Podcast a Listen and Read Our 2024 Case for Support
At Hearth Matters, we are reflecting on 2023 and celebrating the birth of our nonprofit, Erin’s first pregnancy and our Hearth Matters Chapbook Series, the stories at the heart of our vision for a world where householders and mothers are recognized for their invaluable contributions to human flourishing.
One of our nonprofit initiatives is to amplify this perspective, which we’ll do in part through conversations on our newly released The Hearth Matters Podcast. We’ll be interviewing some of the best thinkers in the world along with ordinary people who are rethinking and reinventing home.
In our inaugural episode, we share our origin story and our “why” for starting the Hearth Matters nonprofit. We discuss initiatives that reunify work and home, and why this strategy improves the social and economic status of mothers and householders and in turn, all of our lives. Episodes 1, 2 and 3 are audiobooks of our digital chapbooks: Hearthstory, Householder Feminism and Domesteconomy.
If you find yourself with a free moment this holiday season, please give us a listen and if you like what you hear, consider sharing and/or discussing with friends and family. What better time to engage in one conversation that we can all agree on–the vital role a nurturing home plays in our collective well-being.
And to the moms and householders who are busily planning and preparing, we celebrate your gift of care and love to all of us this season–thank you so very much for all you do!
Wishing you a joyous season filled the warmth and love of good friends and family,
Erin and Kathryn
“Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.”
—Hamilton Wright Mabie
Next year is a big one for Hearth Matters. In addition to writing a book and hosting a weekly podcast, we’re launching our first-ever fundraising campaign. Our Case for Support outlines our goals and the key initiatives we believe will drive meaningful change in the domestic sphere by reuniting work and home and elevating the social and economic status of mothers and householders.
If our work sparks you, please consider making a donation. Your gift is an investment in those who provide so much care and love to all of us.
P.S. When you support our work with a subscription through Substack, a 12.9% fee is assessed but when you click on our donate button, the fee drops to 2.9%. Either way, we are very grateful for your support and thrilled to be on this journey with you.
